COLOGNE, GERMANY—May 28, 2009—Facing Italy’s growing energy needs, utility Enipower has signed service agreements with GE Energy to improve the efficiency, output and reliability of three power plants throughout the country.

Enipower is an affiliate of ENI SPA, one of the leading Italian energy companies and active in about 70 countries with a staff of more than 76,000 employees.

The new six-year contractual service agreements (CSAs) will cover GE-built turbines, generators and compressors in Enipower’s plants located in Livorno, Ravenna and Taranto. The CSAs will ensure that Enipower’s equipment is subject to a planned maintenance schedule to help avoid costly, unexpected outages.

The CSAs will leverage the global technology and service resources of GE operations based in Milan and Florence.

GE is the original equipment manufacturer and service will be conducted on two 9E heavy duty gas turbines and generators respectively in Livorno and Ravenna refineries; one 6B heavy duty gas turbine and generator in Taranto refinery, one Frame 5 heavy duty gas turbine and generator, reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors and steam turbines.

Under the agreements for the three Enipower plants, GE will provide maintenance, including parts, services and repairs, for a fixed price over the life of the contract. Benefits to the customer will include performance guarantees, predictable maintenance costs and access to GE’s latest technology and global experience.

The new CSAs will support the continued growth and employment at GE’s facilities in Italy and other countries in Europe that are involved in supporting the Enipower initiative.

GE currently is managing CSAs for customers at more than 700 sites covering 2,000 turbines worldwide.

Enipower’s operating activities include oil, natural gas, electricity generation, engineering and construction and petrochemical business, while its three main business areas are exploration and production, gas and power and refining and marketing.
