Caterpillar Awarded Equipment Supply Contract to Provide 22 MW of Generating Capacity to the Island of St. Pierre

PEORIA, IL – Caterpillar Inc. is pleased to announce that the local utility company has signed an agreement to purchase two 6CM32C and four 9CM32C diesel generator sets and associated equipment to provide power to St. Pierre, a French territory. This new power plant will provide up to 22 MW to the island, located south of the Canadian province of Newfoundland.

The utility company has assembled a joint venture, including Cat® dealer Eneria, to build this new power plant on St. Pierre. Once completed, the new plant will provide double the capacity of the old plant. Work on the project will start in early 2012, with the Cat generators being delivered near the end of the year.

Caterpillar Power Generation Systems offers a range of electric power generation solutions including engineered equipment, turnkey power plants, financing, and customized operations and maintenance programs. Caterpillar power plants are fueled by natural gas and liquid fuels, such as traditional fossil fuels, and a variety of renewable fuels including biodiesel and raw vegetable oil.
