Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Introduces The Next Generation of City Multi VRFZ Systems
Sunday, November 15, 2009
SUWANEE, Ga. – November 12, 2009 – Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division, has updated its Y- and R2-Series CITY MULTI Variable Refrigerant Zoning Systems (VRFZ) to provide even greater cooling and heating capacity and application flexibility.
“The new line-up consists of 6-, 8- and 10-ton outdoor unit modules, which can be combined to form an outdoor unit system of up to 30 tons that can connect to as many as 50 indoor units,” says Joe Bush, CITY MULTI application specialist, Mitsubishi Electric HVAC. “Both the new Y-Series heat pump and the R2-Series heat recovery system outdoor units are smaller in height and depth. The 6-ton module is even small enough to fit through a standard-sized doorway. In addition, the new units are lightweight and easier to transport.”
The PURY/PUHY-P**T(S)HMU-A (208/230-volt) and the PURY/PUHY-P**Y(S)HMU-A (460-volt) outdoor unit modules feature a single INVERTER-driven compressor for increased performance and enhanced capacity control. The units also are extremely quiet with a low operating sound of only 58 dB(A) for the 6-ton outdoor unit and 65dB(A) for the 30-ton outdoor unit system. This quiet operation can be attributed the units’ compressor compartments, which are sealed by metal panels to minimize sound levels in all directions. In addition, the units feature increased pipe length and a dipswitch for adjustable static pressure.
According to Bush, the new modular units also provide easy installation and maintenance. Elevated piping connections and a control box located almost at eye level contribute to easy maintenance and two separate front panels allow maintenance from one side of the unit.
The CITY MULTI R2-Series features INVERTER technology and simultaneous cooling and heating, making it ideal for a wide variety of applications. The two-pipe heat recovery operation is made possible through the use of the Branch Circuit (BC) Controller, which directs refrigerant flow between the indoor units and the outdoor unit.
The CITY MULTI Y-Series can cool or heat up to 50 zones and takes advantage of Mitsubishi Electric's INVERTER technology to provide the precise amount of cooling or heating to all zones. By distributing capacity from one zone of a system to another, the Y-Series applies only as much energy as each zone needs, making it an energy efficient solution to total comfort control. A Y-Series module also is available with Mitsubishi Electric HVAC’s exclusive H2i™ technology, which offers tremendous heating capacity at incredibly low temperatures, even down to minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit
A variety of indoor units are offered for both the R2-Series and Y-Series, including wall-mounted, ceiling-recessed, ceiling-suspended, concealed-ducted, floor-standing and vertical types.
