Last
week, I attended the West Coast Energy Management Conference in Long Beach, CA.
For 28 years, the conference has catered to energy efficiency professionals from
the West, looking for a place to come together and learn about the latest energy
management developments and new implementation strategies. The conference is put
on by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), a 9,000-member-strong
organization that includes energy engineers and energy management professionals
from the US and 70 other countries.
In
Distributed Energy, we’ve been focusing a lot lately on energy management
systems, especially in relation to energy efficiency and the promised arrival of
a national Smart Grid. I’ve been
thinking a lot about the role of energy management when it comes to distributed
energy and the smart grid. After the conversations I had with attendees and
exhibitors at the West Coast Energy Management Conference, I felt compelled to
go back and look at what I’d said about the subject in the past. If you’re
equally intrigued, I suggest some of the following blogs:

Right
now, I’m attending the AWWA’s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE 09), and,
with water and energy bound together so tightly, I anticipate that next week I
will have a lot of new and exciting information regarding the relationship
between water resource management and energy efficiency.
