Gas-to-Energy at Paris Landfill
At this landfill gas facility near Paris, France, a Mars 100 from Solar Turbines, packaged by Turbomach, transforms landfill methane into electric power. Instead of being wasted by flaring, the gas feeds three steam boilers equipped with burners that selfadjust to the varied Btu. Resulting superheated steam drives a multistage condensing turbine. Its power output serves the demand of 228,000 people and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 42,000 tons a year.
